Free Fil Screening - Just Do It - A Tale of Modern-day Outlaws

Just Do It - A Tale of Modern-day Outlaws
A film by Emily James

“Rousing stuff” **** EMPIRE
“Smart, funny, adrenalised portrait of 21st-century activism” Danny Leigh, The Guardian

Just Do It lifts the lid on climate activism and the daring troublemakers who have crossed the line to become modern day outlaws. Emily James spent over a year embedded in activist groups such as Climate Camp and Plane Stupid to document their clandestine activities. With unprecedented access, Just Do It introduces you to a powerful cast of mischievous and inspiring characters who put their bodies in the way; they blockade factories, attack coal power stations and glue themselves to the trading floors of international banks despite the very real threat of arrest.

Their adventures will entertain, illuminate and inspire.

FREE FILM SCREENING: 'RISE LIKE LIONS - O.W.S. and the Seeds of Revolution'

RISE LIKE LIONS - O.W.S. and the Seeds of Revolution'

A film by Scott Noble

"Scott Noble's film Rise Like Lions takes the people, actions, and words from the camps and streets of Occupy Wall Street and provides a radical, compelling and inspiring account of what the movement is about. Watch it. Share it. Do it!" - Ron Jacobs

January 17th, 2012 is the 4th month anniversary of the progressive movement known to the world as OCCUPY WALL STREET which has sparked peaceful uprisings and actions against endless war, corporate and governmental corruption, environmental degradation, and greedy banks.

Even as we launch into the uncharted waters of 2012, we know the world around us will never be the same again, due to seismic socio-political & economic changes of global proportions in 2011.

Join US in experiencing together these CHANGES, reflecting and charting collective paths ahead in dealing with our local Malaysian brand of CAPITALISM. Let's consider:

- why so little or marginal, popular outrage against Economic Injustices among ordinary Malaysians? What do you say about our national economic goal of becoming a High-Income Nation and what does it mean for the 99% of us? Are there any signs of a coming Malaysian economic crisis, eg. property & assets bubbles, rising national & household debt?

- what would a local, grassroots, democratic people's movement 'ala OWS' look like in the Malaysian context? What kind of conditions and necessary actions are needed to build such a movement in Malaysia? What is the difference between Occupy Wall St. & Occupy Dataran?

- what kind of new political imagination is needed for us to dream and build a new Malaysia together? What are the possibilities for ordinary folk to 'rise like lions'?

'Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you -
Ye are many - they are few.' - Percy Bysshe Shelley

RISE LIKE LIONS is a compilation made up mostly of videos uploaded to the web documenting the 'OCCUPY WALL STREET' and OCCUPY TOGETHER' movements. It contains both original and non-original sequences.
